Most of the time, I spend my weekend with a combination of watching dvds, going out and sleeping. But today I realized something odd. There is at least one tv-series or soap opera which adresses a certain job or profession.
There is the IT-crowd (IT/programming/system administration a.s.o.), Scrubs (medicine), several shows about cooking, building or tuning, Jag (military), Shark (justice/law), and many more.
So for several reasons, these jobs seem to inspire people, showing them how interesting their lives would/could be, if they had chosen a different path.

When it comes to sleeping, people tend to be pretty honest. They tell you everything, from when, to how, to where… sometimes even with whom. But before you judge me now and think “whow, this guy is totally nuts” please… bear with my 5 o’clock in the moring thinking, because

Things have been quite boring around here lately.
This is going to change.
Soon.

Hurray!
Free time. Time to do anything I always wanted to do. That’s really great.
I feel like myself again, with all this creativity coming back into my body after I had some time with my girlfriend.
Anything good at the moment, I just get a little thoughtful.

And now that I had the whole weekend to myself I realize how tired I must have been. I really had to talk myself into going out and train. Now, after training and taking a shower I feel quite fresh and alive.
I am not really able to talk about much at the moment. Maybe I’ll write a short update in the next few days.

Hello folks!
The past few weeks of crunch time really get to me now. For some reason I can’t get to sleep, no matter how hard I try. This is the reason, why I wander around in a constant state of dizziness, with eyes burning like hell and a feeling of weakness.
This is why I started to go back to the roots. For those of you, who keep reading my blog for some time now, all this might sound a little familiar. When I was still a student at Games Academy Berlin I had plenty of methods to relieve my mind from everyday’s work. Now I struggle to even get my eyes shut at night which results in bedtimes around 2am to 3 am (and honestly even a little later yesterday).
So this is my plan:
Instead of trying to go to bed around midnight as I would normally try to do, I am going to move my bedtime to 10pm. This will hopefully confuse my body so much, that it simply refuses to resist my orders anymore and finally gets used to sleep early.
To get this amazing idea done according to plan, I am going to bribe my conscious mind with burgers and beer tonight.
Nice plan, eh?

Well… It’s getting hot in here, because summer is knocking at the door of Ascaron/Studio 2 in Aachen, Germany. I know that there are places on earth that are a lot warmer than Germany, Las Vegas - for example. Or maybe Hawaii, for that matter. Still I am complaining about it and damn I hate that heat and sunshine and all that stuff.
Imagine me sitting in the office, having to work hard and concentraded. Then add some noise to the scene, because there is a construction side somewhere near the office. Got the picture? Good.
Now add an open window, so we get fresh air, and some energy drinks and coffee. Got it?
Really? Then add the fine and incomparable smell of steak and sausages and stuff like that. Yeah right, somewhere in the area around the office, some very unfair people just started their barbecue and this constantly drives me more and more into the arms of total insanity.
So maybe I should walk over to these people and tell them about the danger of Game Developers gone mad? Would that help? We don’t have a “do killer games make our kids become mass murderers” discussion for no reason. So the better get me some of tha reeeeeally good smelling barbecue over to my office.
They could just build a catapult to deliver it right through my office window - which is, as I told you - open for SOME reason, right?!
Anyways, I look forward to have my barbecue tonight. It will be the first thing I’ll do after a hard day at work, making games for people who don’t even want to share their barbecues
;)

Well, I have to apologize to you, my much appreciated readers, for not posting any updates within the last months. I didn’t post anything because most of my time got consumed by work and a private stuff. But now I am back again and ready to feed the newest stuff to you, as soon as it comes up, on a regular basis of at least 2 times a week. I hope you guys are just as excited about this as I am.
See you very very soon!

Well I guess this is a case of history repeating itself. I just found all that skatepunk music I used to listen to when I was a youngling. Now I start looking back on this past season of activity and find myself in some kind of “not enough time to play” mode. This is not how I intended this fall to be. On the other hand there is winter-een-mas coming up next January. So I guess I’ll just put all those nice and neat games on the shelve and play them then. But the list grows every week. I didn’t even have the chance to play the full version of Hellgate London, yet - even though I managed to play the SP Demo a lot.
Well, I’ve gotta work now…

I guess this is supposed to be some kind of news, even though some of you might have noticed already. Last week I wrote another developer blog on my work at sacred 2. If you want to check it out, you may want to check out gamona.de(german) and rpgdot.com (english).
Because everyone tells me to use my free time to relax, I visited Cologne yesterday to attend a Manu Chao concert. First I thought “well, this might be a little fun”… how could I be so wrong! It was a great concert. How could I have missed this so long? Great music, great musicians and a really cool crowd. So yeah, this was really fun, even though it wasn’t that relaxing - I still feel the pain.
This week a lot of work needs to be done. Again. So hopefully this concert pushed me enough to stay at work a little longer each day.
